Odds And Ends: Rescheduled Game, Conlin, Stutes

Obviously it was a decidedly slow news day Tuesday in Phillies Nation. Here is what we picked up:

  • Because the Dolphins were scheduled a Monday night game Sept. 21 against the Colts at Dolphin Stadium, the Marlins have moved their Sept. 21 game against the Phillies to July 16.
  • If you had to read just one Harry Kalas tribute (hopefully you read many), Bill Conlin’s piece about Harry took the cake. That’s because 1Chair was good friends with Harry moving up in the Phillie beat ranks. It’s written with the sense of a man whose sadness was overcome by fondness and reflection. Very touching.
  • In the minors, Mike Stutes had an impressive Monday for the Reading Phillies. Mike Drago reports the 22-year-old (who was drafted last season) pitched five innings of two-hit ball, letting up those two hits in the sixth inning.

Tim Malcolm

Tim first found the Phillies as a little infant at Veteran’s Stadium, cheering on a Juan Samuel game-winning home run in his very first game. With the pinstripes in his blood, he witnessed Terry Mulholland’s 1990 no-hitter, “Steve Carlton Night” at the Vet, game three of the 1993 World Series, countless games during the charmed 2008 championship season and various road excursions. Since November 2007 Tim’s been writing about them daily at Phillies Nation, becoming one of the world’s most popular Phillies scribes. You can catch him on Twitter and Facebook, as well. When he’s not talking about the Phils he’s relaxing with a St. Bernardus ABT 12 or one of his many favored brews.
