Hamels Likely To Start Friday At Atlanta

It’s more than likely Cole Hamels will make his next start Friday. Yesterday’s rainout allowed the Phillies to reconfigure the rotation – Joe Blanton is scheduled tonight in Saint Louis; Brett Myers will go tomorrow, followed by Jamie Moyer and Chan Ho Park in New York. Hamels would pitch Friday vs. Atlanta.

It’s a blessing for the Phils, considering they weren’t sure whether Hamels could make his originally scheduled start (which was tonight). There was talk they’d have to start JA Happ, instead.

Good news? Rich Dubee said Hamels “threw great” Saturday. “There really weren’t any effects of throwing off the mound and rotating off his back ankle or anything. That was fine. It’s just his mobility. We’ve got to get him on his legs.”

With the pinstripes in his blood, he witnessed Terry Mulholland’s 1990 no-hitter, “Steve Carlton Night” at the Vet, game three of the 1993 World Series, countless games during the charmed 2008 championship season and various road excursions.
