Ibanez’s Stroke Helps Sweep Doubleheader

Raul Ibanez had a banner day in Washington, hitting three home runs in two games and helping to give the Phillies wins in both games of a day-night doubleheader.

In game one, he hit two homers and drove in four, while Brett Myers supplied fantastic pitching. He went seven innings, giving up two runs on three hits. Brad Lidge collected a save after Ryan Madson made the game closer. The Phils won game one, 8-5

Rain shortened game two, but the Phils won, 7-5, thanks to Ibanez’s three-run clout and Ryan Howard’s two-run blast. Chase Utley added an RBI double, one of two two-baggers in the game.

Andrew Carpenter got hit around a bit, but lasted 4.1 innings for the win. Clay Condrey finished two thirds to grab the unusual save.
