Domonic Brown Gives a Scare, Should be Back Thursday

Yesterday, in the MLB Futures Game, Domonic Brown left early with minor tightness in his hamstring. He was pulled from the game in the first inning, mostly as a precautionary measure, which is of course the right move.

Brown will be fine and should be back in the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs lineup on Thursday when play resumes.

Jason Grey of ESPN.com wrote a nice blog piece about Brown and his rise to the player he is now.  How close is he to making it to Philadelphia? You’d have to think Ruben Amaro is trying to find a way to rid himself of the expensive contract that is Raul Ibanez. We’ve heard about the Jayson Werth rumors, but they’d much rather have someone take Ibanez off their hands.

It will be a tough sell, but this trade deadline could make or break Amaro’s legacy with this team. If that includes Brown in the majors, he could be on the right track. At the very least, we should be seeing Brown up here during September call-ups.  However, we just may catch a glimpse of him before that.
