Jimmy Rollins will miss tonight’s game, and possibly a few more, as he deals with some swelling after fouling a ball off his back foot. Charlie Manuel indicated that Rollins is day-to-day, but they may give him more time to heal since he’s in pain. We’ll keep an eye on this.
As for the starters, Cole Hamels will look to continue his brilliant pitching tonight against Arizona. He’ll look to give the Phils their 6th consecutive victory, and at a perfect time, too, as they creep up on the division leading Braves. Hamels has given up one earned run in his last three starts (22 2/3 innings). Against Arizona, Hamels is 2-1 with a 3.38 ERA in four starts, but allowed six runs in six innings of a 7-4 loss at Arizona on April 2
Rodrigo Lopez is the hurler for the D-Backs, someone you all should be familiar with. Not only did he pitch for the Phils last season, but he was blasted by them back in April for six runs in six innings. The Snakes won that game 8-6.
Charlie Manuel on the playoff run: “I haven’t even mentioned the Wild Card, that’s not in my thinking at all right now.” Go for that division!
LINEUP: Victorino CF, Polanco 2B, Ibanez LF, Howard 1B, Werth RF, Dobbs 3B, Ruiz C, Valdez SS, Hamels P.
Your Gameday Beer: Dock Street Summer Session
Had it last night and was pleasantly surprised. It was one of the smoothest beers i’ve had in quite a while and finished beautifully with hints of lemon and ginger. It’s pale and looks like a Blue Moon, but tastes waaaay better. You can check it out at Dock Street Brewery, located at 50th and Baltimore in West Philadelphia. I wouldn’t wander through that area too often, since it’s the ghetto, but I would trek through it for a beer this good. Get on it. -By Pat
