A move was made today by the Phillies. They finally recalled Antonio Bastardo from Lehigh Valley after sending John Mayberry Jr. back down to Triple-A. Bastardo gives them an added lefty which will help with guys like Andre Ethier and James Loney this week. Tony has been lights out since coming off the DL, going 13.2 innings, allowing just four hits and no runs, while striking out 21. Let’s hope that translates to the bigs once again, as J.C. Romero has been scuffling as the Phils only lefty.

Also, let’s give props to Kyle Kendrick. He faces another stiff test tonight, but over his last three starts, and in four of his last five, Kendrick has been outstanding. His ERA is at it’s lowest point as a starter all season and his WHIP (1.29) ranks better than names like: Jaime Garcia, Ryan Dempster, Jonathan Sanchez, Dan Haren, Gio Gonzalez, and Brandon Morrow. Not too shabby.

Welcome back, Vicente Padilla. The Phillies last saw him in Game 5 of the NLCS last season, and it was mighty fine. Padilla’s Floatilla was torched as he allowed six earned runs in 3 2/3 innings. Tonight, you’ll see a ton of what Vin Scully calls “soap bubbles” or eephus pitches from Padilla. He likes to toss 55 MPH crappers at the plate, so don’t be alarmed if you see one.

Oh, and check out this lineup the Dodgers are putting out there – are they giving the Phils the win tonight? It includes Jamey Carroll, Brad Ausmus, and Jay Gibbons. Have fun!

Also, don’t forget – you can reach us on our new hotline to rant and rave about all things Phillies. The number is (801)-TRADE ME . That’s (801) 872-3363.

LINEUP: Rollins SS, Polanco 3B, Gload 1B, Ibanez LF, Werth CF, Brown RF, Ruiz C, Valdez 2B, Kendrick P

Your Gameday Beer – Flying Fish Exit 4 – American Trippel
For the first release, we chose Exit 4–right up the street from the Flying Fish brewery. Because we were one of the first craft brewers to embrace Belgian-style beers, we’ve chosen as our representative beer, a Belgian trippel finished with plenty of American hops. My buddy Terry raves about Flying Fish, Dogfish Head, and any other fishy-named beer, so he gets the props on that one. – By Pat
