Cole Hamels, with a great start tonight, can go below three with his ERA. Think about that for a second. This guy as come full circle after an unbelievable 2008 and then a terrible 2009 season. It’s been quite the turnaround for him and a win tonight means sole possession of first place, still. The Phils are counting on this guy to be just as good as he’s been the last two-plus months.
On the other end, Adalberto Mendez. He stifled the Phillies in his first career start a week ago, then hurt himself and had to leave the game. Mendez throws heat, but they’ve now seen him. No time to let up, especially with the Braves on their heels playing the Nats tonight. A win is good.
Tonight’s lineup: Victorino CF, Polanco 3B, Utley 2B, Howard 1B, Werth RF, Ibanez LF, Ruiz C, Valdez SS, Blanton P.
Your Gameday Beer – Sierra Nevada Summerfest
This Northern California summer brew is a traditional lager but its summer flavors make it almost like a Pils. It incorporates a hoppy aroma with hints of citrus, wheat, and light caramel taste. It has a light body too which makes it an easy-drinker. Likewise, you should eat something light with it, like sushi. – By Brian
