The Philies will try and wrap up the series sweep against the Astros today after two incredible outings from Roy Halladay and Cliff Lee. Too bad for those Houston fans for they will not catch a break with Roy Oswalt on the mound.
Oswalt, who Houston drafted and brought up through the minors, will pitch against his former team after spending 10 seasons with the Astros. This is the first time Oswalt has faced the Astros since being trading to Philadelphia near the trade deadline last season.
J.A. Happ had been slated to take the hill today against his former team. Happ was one of the main components in the deal that brought Oswalt to Philly. Unfortunately he is suffering from a mildly strained oblique and has been pushed pack until Tuesday. Bud Norris will step in and pitch two days ahead of schedule.
Shane Victorino, who left yesterday’s game with a tight left calf, will take the day off today and rest. Rule 5 guy Michael Martinez will hit lead off and play centerfield for the Phillies. Victorino says the plan is to be back in the lineup Tuesday against the Mets. The rest of the lineup looks the same.
LINEUP: Martinez CF, Polanco 3B, Rollins SS, Howard 1B, Ibanez LF, Francisco RF, Ruiz C, Valdez 2B, Oswalt P.
Your Gameday Beer – Lionshead Lager
This is essentially your local alternative to Bud Light. Its defining quality as a beer is its price (cheap), and it’s brewed in Wilkes-Barre, which is kinda cool. – By Michael
