Last night the Phillies did something they hadn’t done yet this season; lose after losing. That’s just a long-winded way to say the Phils lost back-to-back games, but it did happen.
Hey, at least Cliff is pitching.
Cliff Lee will take the mound looking to keep the team from their first losing streak of the year. The offense isn’t giving the pitching staff much help, but Lee may not need it. He tossed a complete game shutout last time out against the Nats and the Phillies could use a repeat performance.
Look out for another quality pitcher in the Brewers rotation, Chris Narveson. The 29-year old has started strong for Milwaukee and will again post the problem of being a left-hander against a team that just struggled against one last night in Randy Wolf.
Where will the offense come from? I’m looking at John Mayberry Jr. for a pick-them-up today. The guy has a ton of power and the Phils need it immediately.
Lineup: Victorino CF, Planco 3B, Rollins SS, Howard 1B, Francisco RF, Mayberry LF, Ruiz C, Valdez 2B, Lee P
Your gamenight beer: The Trippel Belgian Style Ale from the New Belgium Brewing Co. of Colorado is a nice American version of the tripel. There might be a little too much banana flavor in it, but it’s worthy of a drink or two with its sweetness. I’d enjoy some barbecued chicken and corn on the cob with this.
Go Phillies!
