Gameday: Cubs (24-36) vs. Phillies (37-25)

Chicago Cubs (24-36) at Philadelphia Phillies (37-25)

Randy Wells (1-1, 5.74 ERA) vs. Kyle Kendrick (3-4, 3.78 ERA)

Time: 7:05, Citizens Bank Park
Weather: Sunny/Hot, 96
TV: Comcast SportsNet
Media: Twitter and Facebook

Jimmy Rollins returns. He’s back at the top, although he said the knee isn’t yet 100 percent, so don’t look for him to be stealing many bases this evening. Chase Utley also returns.

Otherwise, nothing newsworthy really happening today. We shift the attention to how ridiculously hot it is going to be, and how that might be a factor. Obviously, Kyle Kendrick has a short leash as it is, so with the temperatures near triple digits at gametime, he’ll have to manage. His delivery doesn’t appear to exert much energy, so that’s a good thing. Charlie Manuel said Kendrick could go 100 pitches tonight, he’s stretched out enough to go deep if he can. But that’s the question; can he?

Randy Wells shut the Phillies down last year at Wrigley (7 inn, 0 ER), but he’s nearing 6 in the ERA category this year. With “hittin’ weather” in the air, lets see if they can take advantage.

PHILLIES LINEUP:

Rollins SS, Polanco 3B, Utley 2B, Howard 1B, Victorino CF, Ibanez LF, Brown RF, Sardinha C, Kendrick P

Your Gameday Beer: Pacifico

Cerveza Pacifico Clara is the real name for this beer which was brewed by three German men in Mexico in 1900. In 1954 it was purchased by Modelo (you’ve heard of them, yes), which is now owned by Anheuser Busch. Seems like they own every beer. So I guess Pacifico is like the Bud of our neighbors to the south. I think it tastes much better. I think you like it, too. – By Pat
