According to Jim Salisbury of CSNPhilly.com, Phillies prospect Jonathan Singleton has been moved from left field back to his original position of first base. The Phillies organization moved Singleton to left field before the start of the season in hopes that he would be able to pick up the position and rise faster through the ranks of the farm system. As we all know, first base is blocked by Ryan Howard at the top.
Chuck Lamar, Phillies assistant general manager, said “I wanted to get him back to his comfort zone in hopes that it would relax him and help him at the plate.”
Through 43 games with high-A Clearwater in 2011, Singleton is hitting .259 with three homers and 17 RBI. Last year at low-A Lakewood, he mashed the ball, batting .290 with 14 home runs and 77 RBI.
The good news is, he’s still only 19.
