Roy vs. Tim. Two of the best go head-to-head by the Bay. They lead two underachieving teams tonight as the Phillies begin a 10-game road trip.
Halladay has been lights out through two starts. His 0.60 ERA represents the best mark in the National League to this point. Lincecum’s ERA, on the other hand, his near-13 ERA is about as awful as it can be at this point. What Lincecum will we see tonight? His velocity has been down, which is partly the reason for his lousy start to the season.
Laynce Nix gets another shot at first base after his big hit on Sunday. Has Charlie lost faith in John Mayberry Jr.? He’s struggling right now and Manuel has said he wants to ride the hot hand – so Nix it is. That, plus, it’s a good lefty/righty matchup for Nix against Lincecum, which is why they brought his bat here.
Lineup: Pierre LF, Polanco 3B, Rollins SS, Pence RF, Victorino CF, Nix 1B, Ruiz C, Galvis 2B, Halladay P
