Somehow, someway, the Phillies are two games over-.500 after what has been a tumultuous first eight weeks. From here on out, it won’t get any easier.

As I’m sure you’ve heard by now, Roy Halladay will miss 6-8 weeks with a lat strain in his right shoulder. The ace of aces hasn’t looked right for much of this season, and we now know why. Kyle Kendrick will likely be the guy who takes his spot in the rotation. However, there is also still a hole from the missing Vance Worley.

Worley threw off a mound today and felt no pain in his right elbow. However, he still may have to go on a quick one-game rehab stint before he returns to the bigs.

Carlos Ruiz is not in the lineup tonight, but according to Charlie Manuel he is available off the bench. That’s great news as many were wondering what his injury was all about. He has a sore hamstring, so the Phillies are playing safe.

Lineup: Rollins SS, Pierre LF, Pence RF, Wiginton 1B, Victorino CF, Polanco 3B, Galvis 2B Schneider C, Blanton P.

Your Gameday Beer – Jameson and Ginger Ale

This concoction is a fave of mine. And lets face it – after the news of Halladay hitting the DL, you’ll need something a little stronger this evening. It’s sweet and refreshing. Which is also something you’ll need since it’s 147 degrees outside. But don’t go overboard on these; the alcohol content will sneak up on you. Plus, it’s only Tuesday. – Pat Gallen
