On Friday, we learned of the passing of Mark Marinelli, who had touched many lives within the Phillie fan and writer community with his sense of humor and his positive outlook. One of those lives he touched was Marlins outfielder Logan Morrison.
Mark and Logan connected on Twitter after Morrison was called up to the Major Leagues for the first time in the Summer of 2010. Their relationship went from friendly banter, Mark bugging Logan about a sprained tendon that required crutches – Logan implying that they could have a wheelchair race, to support, Mark offering his best words of wisdom to Logan after learning of Morrison’s father passing of lung cancer, the same illness that struck down Mark’s mother when Mark was 25.
After learning of Mark’s passing via Twitter, Morrison took to Twitter to share his memories of Mark with the world. With his permission, we are proudly sharing those Tweets. And, with his permission, we are proud to announce that he is among the many who have already given a generous contribution to #Give4Mark – the Phillies Nation collection where 100% of the monies collected are donated directly to the Marinelli family. As you read Morrison’s memories, please consider making your own donation to the Marinelli family if you have not already. Thank you.
