Jack and I were classmates at NYU together, where, in the Spring of 2008, we bonded in our fandoms of good-but-not-great MLB teams: I being a Phillies fan and Jack a fan of the Tribe, both who had made the playoffs in 2007 after absences. He took time out of his schedule to answer some questions for our Celebrity Series Preview.
Ian Riccaboni: How’d you become a Tribe fan?
Jack Moore: I became a Tribe fan the day I was lucky enough (read: cursed) to be born in Northeast Ohio. Jose Mesa and the 97 World Series was one of the darkest moments of my life.
IR: Favorite Indians moment?
JM: Favorite moment is hard to pinpoint. So many bad ones. I’d say my favorite moment was beating the Mariners in 1995 to go to the World Series.
IR: Indians are slated to face Roy Halladay and Cliff Lee – do either scare you anymore?
JM:
IR: Trevor Bauer may start Wednesday – are there any expectations on him for this year as a fan?
JM: There are huge expectations for Bauer. After the disaster that was the Ubaldo trade (though he may be showing signs of life recently), the Tribe farm system is pretty empty when it comes to top tier arms. We need Bauer to be that guy.
IR: Any final predictions for the series?
JM: The Tribe offense has shown some signs of life recently, so I think we grab a split of the series. But that’s mostly just early season optimism talking.
