UPDATE, 4:38 PM: According to CSN’s Jim Salisbury, Mike Adams will throw Thursday and Saturday in Clearwater, hoping to be active Monday in Boston.

Mike Adams has officially hit the disabled list with a right back strain. The move is retroactive to May 11, the day after last time he pitched, so he’s eligible to come off the DL on Sunday.
Adams, 34, hasn’t been the same Mike Adams, but he actually hasn’t been terrible. He’s 1-3 with a 3.00 ERA, but his walking batters at the highest rate of his career, 3.6-per-9. Although he is putting more men on, he’s striking out 11.4-per-9, also a career high.
It remains to be seen if Adams is still dealing with the lingering effects of offseason surgery. Thoracic outlet syndrome kept Adams in pain all of last season, then forced him to have a rib removed.
After Carlos Ruiz pulled up lame in yesterday’s win over the Reds, Humberto Quintero has gotten the call from Lehigh Valley. That almost assures you Chooch will see the DL, as well. We also await news on Ryan Howard from Miami.
