Philadelphia Phillies (31-31) vs Milwaukee Brewers (23-37)
Kyle Kendrick (6-3, 3.12) vs Tom Gorzelanny (1-0, 2.01)
TV: FOX
Weather: 63, some clouds
The Phillies will attempt to get back over the .500 mark this evening in the third game of their four game set with the Milwaukee Brewers. The Phillies win streak ended at five games after last night’s 5-4 loss, and they have gone 2-3 against the last place Brewers this year.
Right-hander Kyle Kendrick will get the baseball for the Phillies in tonight’s game. He is coming off his second complete game of the season, a 6-3 win over the Marlins in which he gave up just two runs on six hits.
His counterpart will be southpaw Tom Gorzelanny, who will be making his first start of the season for the Brewers, and only his second start since 2011. In 24 games out of the bullpen, he has pitched to a 1-0 record and 2.01 ERA.
The Phillies have not fared all that well against Gorzelanny through his career, but Jimmy Rollins (5-for-14, two doubles), Erik Kratz (1-for-3, home run) and Freddy Galvis (2-for-4, 2 RBI) have had a bit of success against him.
Lineup: M. Young 3B, Frandsen 1B, Rollins SS, D. Young RF, Brown LF, Mayberry CF, Kratz C, Hernandez 2B, Kendrick P
Gameday Beer: Otter Creek Copper Ale
This medium bodied beer is a very versatile and refreshing brew that goes well with all types of ballpark food, especially stuff off the grill. It’s got a sweet, toasty, crisp taste that is perfect for either a chilly night or hot summer day watching the game. It’s tough to go wrong with a good ale.
