For the first time since 2002, Phillies have clinched a losing season. Tonight marked their 82nd loss on the year. Cole Hamels had a rough night, surrendering six earned runs for the first time since May.
He let up three of those before recording an out in the first, including allowing a homer to David Wright, in his first at-bat since August 2. Daisuke Matsuzaka allowed four (two earned) runs in six innings pitched, and allowed just four hits. Overall, the Phils were only able to scatter five hits in 36 tries at the plate.
These two teams are back at it tomorrow, with Tyler Cloyd scheduled for the Phillies and Dillon Gee scheduled for the Mets.
