Report: Phillies Set to Sign TV Deal with Comcast

According to a report from The Philadelphia Daily News, the Phillies are set to agree on a new TV deal with Comcast Sportsnet that could be up to 25 years. Here is what a spokesperson from Comcast told the Daily News:

“We’re pleased to confirm that NBCUniversal and Comcast SportsNet have signed a new long-term deal with the Philadelphia Phillies that will expand Comcast SportsNet’s role as the Phillies’ primary TV partner,” the spokesman said. “Although the terms of the comprehensive deal are confidential, details surrounding the 2014 schedule of games will be provided in the coming months.”
There have been multiple tweets from some of the beat reporters that the deal is between 20 and 25 years.
Also, just this past year the L.A. Dodgers inked a 25-year deal with FOX for $7 billion; it pays roughly $140 million annually. In the Daily News article, Dave Murphy writes that the Rangers see $80 million per season with their new deal and a 10 percent equity stake while collecting a one-time $100 million fee. The Astros and Padres collect $60 million per season. So, you can come to your own conclusions with the money involved in this deal.
