According to the Phillies, both Cole Hamels and Mike Adams will begin their rehab assignments in Clearwater.
Adams will start his on Thursday, while Hamels gets in gear on Sunday. Good news for both. I’m really eager to see what Adams has left in the tank and if he can get past the injury issues that have lingered now for the better part of a year. The Phillies could use the stability of a tested late-inning reliever knowing the status of their bullpen parts currently.
As for Hamels, there has been nothing but positive reports following his throwing sessions, so there’s a possibility that if no setbacks occur, he’d return to the team in late-April. The Phillies can ill-afford to have Hamels miss much more time than that.
Also, Jimmy Rollins is headed home to be with his wife who is about to give birth to their second child.
