The Phillies have announced that they have signed catcher Lars Davis to a minor league deal. Davis, 28, was a third-round pick by the Colorado Rockies in 2007 at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and was a catcher in Colorado’s system through 2013. Davis signed with the Diamondbacks organization as a free agent this past offseason and was hitting .182/.333/.318 for Double-A Mobile before being released. Davis has not played in the Majors and is a career .255/.318/.354 minor league hitter.
Davis joined Double-A Reading today and was 0-1 in a pinch hit appearance.
