Phillies Lose Sixth Straight

The Phillies lost their sixth consecutive game as they were swept by the Washington Nationals.  On Thursday afternoon, the Nationals beat Kyle Kendrick and the Phillies, 4-2.

Here are some notes from Thursday’s game:

• Kyle Kendrick surrendered three runs in the fifth inning. Adam LaRoche hit a two-run homer to highlight the inning.  Kendrick went seven full innings allowing four earned runs.  He had some trouble finding the strike zone at times, as he allowed five walks.
• Doug Fister tossed seven strong innings and did not walk a batter. He gave up two earned runs on four hits.
• In the seventh inning, John Mayberry Jr. hit his 50th career home run.
• The loss marks the Phillies’ longest losing streak since they lost eight straight last July. Meanwhile, the Nationals have won five of their last six.
• The Phillies have lost 11 out of their last 15 games against the Nationals. The Nats outscored the Phillies 19-6 during this three-game series.
• The Phillies are a National League worst 9-20 since May 5.

The Phillies will head out to Cincinnati for a weekend series against the Reds.
