Bob Nightengale of USA Today reported late last night on Twitter that the Phillies are doing “intensive homework” on the Los Angeles Dodgers’ farm system in anticipation of a possible Cole Hamels deal. Despite missing the first two weeks of the 2014 season, Hamels had arguably the best season of his career, posting a 2.46 ERA in 30 starts while finishing sixth in NL Cy Young voting.
