When Marlon Byrd was dealt to the Reds, the Phillies acquired promising pitcher Ben Lively. The 22-year-old starred at Double-A last year and is currently #8 on the Phillies prospect list, according to MLB.com. In time, we’ll see where our own Jay Floyd puts him among Phillies farmhands.
Lively spoke with MILB.com about the trade to the Phillies organization and more. Here’s an excerpt:
“I kind of had an idea that maybe something was going to happen this offseason, because I knew they needed an outfielder. I knew I was probably pretty up there on the trade bait or whatever. I’m pretty pumped about what happened, though.”
