A note for today: The Phillies will go for the sweep of the Nationals today, but they’ll have to beat Max Scherzer to do it. In his first start of the season against the Mets, he threw 7.2 innings and allowed zero earned runs. He had two walks and eight strikeouts. He took a no-hitter into the sixth inning. But he got the loss, as he did allow three unearned runs with the help of two errors by shortstop Ian Desmond. For the Phillies, Sean O’Sullivan will get the call, and he’s simply their best option for the last spot in the rotation. He has a career 5.91 ERA in MLB, and 82% of his professional innings have come in the minors. He appeared in three games for the Phillies last year and gave up nine earned runs over 12.2 innings. Cody Asche will return to the lineup after being absent the last two days.
Lineup: Revere LF, Galvis SS, Asche 3B, Howard 1B, Francoeur RF, Herrera CF, Hernandez 2B, Rupp C, O’Sullivan P
