A Note for Today:
Phillippe Aumont started the first inning of his MLB debut for the year with a solid inning walking only one, but after that he couldn’t keep control of his pitches, and walked a total of 6 batters over the next 3.0 innings. Aumont gave up 6 earned runs, four coming off two-run home runs by Yadier Molina and Kolton Wong, and pitched 104 pitches to the Cardinals batters over 4.0 innings. The Phillies went on to lose 12-4 after an RBI from Cesar Hernandez, and a three-run home run by Ryan Howard (like the old days). It was too little, too late after Justin De Fratus gave up 5 runs in the top of the inning.
Aaron Harang gets the start tonight for the Phillies, and has been anything but stellar in his last 3 starts. Harang looks to turn it around tonight if he even wants to think about making it to a contending team. He has given up 16 earned runs in his last 3 starts, which includes 5 home runs. Harang currently sits with a 3.24 ERA which will be tested against the hitting Cardinals.
Lineup fresh off the press, it’s still warm…mmm. No surprises here.
