The Phillies do not have a Japanese player currently on their roster, but don’t tell that to Reddit user UnderscoresSuck, who submitted an inquiry to the subreddit r/phillies titled,“Who is ‘Kodeyashi’?”
UnderscoresSuck elaborated on his question by saying the following:
“I recently started listening to Phillies radio broadcasts when I’m in my car. I haven’t followed baseball in years but I’m trying to learn the players on the team, but I keep hearing commentators talking about a fielder named “Kodeyashi”. I don’t know if that’s how it’s spelled, but that’s what it sounds like. They never use his first name. I’ve tried googling, but haven’t found anything. Who the hell is this guy?”
In no time, other users began to comment on the thread. The top commenter wasn’t sure if this guy was serious, or just being a troll.
“I…I can’t tell if you’re being serious…

P.s. Please don’t down vote me if I missed the joke”
UnderscoresSuck replied by saying, “Oh my god…I’m so F****** stupid. I thought he was a Japanese player. I wish I was joking.”

This poor guy picked a pretty awful time to get back into Phillies baseball with the team sporting the worst record in baseball at 27-52. Perhaps a quick glance at the Phillies’ 25-man roster would’ve been a good move. A little more homework could’ve spared him humiliation.
