A Note for Today:
The Phillies’ Grapefruit League schedule begins today with a 1993 World Series re-match against the reigning 2015 AL East Champion Toronto Blue Jays. The 23-year old Severino Gonzalez will take the bump for the Phils seeking to win a rotation spot. Gonzalez struggled in his first Major League go-round, posting a 7.92 ERA with a 3-3 record in seven starts. The Blue Jays will send 24-year old Marcus Stroman to the hill. Stroman was excellent as a rookie in 2014 and was awesome in September (4-0, 1.67 ERA) after recovering from injury.
Of note, offensively, the Phillies will start the same outfield (Peter Bourjos, Odubel Herrera, and Aaron Altherr) while J.P. Arencibia, Maikel Franco, Freddy Galvis, Cesar Hernandez, Ryan Howard, and Carlos Ruiz will make their first starts of the season.
Lineup: Bourjos, LF / Herrera, CF / Franco, 3B / Howard, 1B / Altherr, RF / Arencibia, DH / Hernandez, 2B / Ruiz, C / Galvis, SS
