Good morning (of afternoon)! Here’s what’s going on this Friday:
- The Braves are arming themselves for the 2017 season. They recently signed R.A. Dickey and, now, have Bartolo Colon on board.
They’re two of the three oldest players in baseball (Ichiro Suzuki is in between); the pair is a combined 85 years old. Comparatively, the Phillies’ current three-man rotation of Aaron Nola, Vince Velasquez and Jerad Eickhoff is a combined 73 years old.
- Here’s a list of five reasons the Phillies should sign Jose Bautista this winter.
I have one reason why they shouldn’t: qualifying offer. A rebuilding team like the Phillies should not surrender a high draft pick right now. Bautista is off my table.
- Cole Hamels was at Saul High School Thursday; we were there.
Check out what he had to say about the rebuild, plus his time in Philadelphia, along with good stuff about the city from his wife, Heidi.
