Baseball America released its Phillies top-10 prospects list Wednesday. Here’s the list:
- J.P. Crawford – SS
- Mickey Moniak – OF
- Jorge Alfaro – C
- Nick Williams – OF
- Sixto Sanchez – P
- Rhys Hoskins – 1B
- Franklyn Kilome – P
- Roman Quinn – OF
- Scott Kingery – 2B
- Dylan Cozens – OF
The top-four is to be expected, with Moniak landing at No. 2 upon his first-overall draft selection in 2016. Sanchez, signed out of the Dominican Republic and the immediate subject of wild praise, drops in at No. 5.
More aggressive might be ranking Hoskins at No. 6. That’s high for a first baseman – and one who was typically ranked in the teens on most Phils prospects lists – but Hoskins bashed 38 home runs last year in Reading. That’ll bring attention.
The group from Sanchez to Kingery seems like it can be shuffled any way, but certainly Kilome, Quinn and Kingery belong in the top-nine. Cozens may be stretched into the top-10, but again, dingers.
Here’s the cool news: We’re likely to see at least four of these guys in Philadelphia this season.
