2017 Phillies Value 50: 40-31

Throughout this week, we’ll unveil the list of the 50 most valuable people to the Phillies’ success in 2017. These are the most valuable people in the Phillies’ organization: The 2017 Phillies Value 50.

Methodology: The team at Phillies Nation each ranked who is most valuable to the Phillies’ success in 2017, from 1-50. We added up the rankings (anyone unranked immediately received a 51), then sorted the list.

Here is 50-41.

Today, 40-31.

40. Rhys Hoskins, first baseman

Though he’ll start 2017 in Lehigh Valley, the talented hitter can push Tommy Joseph out of the starting job with another dazzling season.

39. Larry Bowa, bench coach

The yang to Pete Mackanin’s yin, Bowa is the constant fire that needs to show in the Phils’ young players throughout 2017, even in the darker days.

38. Hector Neris, right-handed pitcher

Future closer? Possible trade chip? A good season means a lot of things for the hard-throwing reliever.

37. Pete Buck, owner

36. Jim Buck, owner

The Bucks may be silent owners these days, but their influence still speaks loud and clear at the highest levels of the organization.

35. Michael Saunders, outfielder

One of the veteran acquisitions brought in to provide a lift on offense, Saunders will be relied on to be a steady force near the middle of the order. Can he respond?

34. Pat Gillick, senior advisor to the general manager

Gillick’s hands were in the 2017 draft. You better believe the former general manager will be involved in other key decisions this season.

33. Dylan Cozens, outfielder

The hot-hitting prospect must show discipline in triple-A if he wants to make the next step to major league success.

32. Michael Ciccotti, medical services director

Health will be of utmost importance this season. The team’s head physician will be looked upon to ensure players reach the best possible outcomes.

31. Andy Galdi, director of baseball research and development

Daniel Walsh has more on what Galdi means to the Phillies in 2017.

Tim Malcolm

Tim first found the Phillies as a little infant at Veteran’s Stadium, cheering on a Juan Samuel game-winning home run in his very first game. With the pinstripes in his blood, he witnessed Terry Mulholland’s 1990 no-hitter, “Steve Carlton Night” at the Vet, game three of the 1993 World Series, countless games during the charmed 2008 championship season and various road excursions. Since November 2007 Tim’s been writing about them daily at Phillies Nation, becoming one of the world’s most popular Phillies scribes. You can catch him on Twitter and Facebook, as well. When he’s not talking about the Phils he’s relaxing with a St. Bernardus ABT 12 or one of his many favored brews.
