PHILLIES WIN: The Phillies took down the Twins, 9-5, with 13 of the game’s runs coming in the final two innings.
Alec Asher surrendered basically all of the runs for the Phils, going two and giving up five runs and five hits.
Meanwhile Freddy Galvis hit a home run, and Aaron Altherr added to his spring total – he now has three.
KENDRICK AT SECOND: Howie Kendrick got a start at second base, which is interesting but not very surprising. He has played second before, and can be used as a fill-in for Cesar Hernandez.
GALVIS IN NEW YORK?: That’s what this New York Post jawn says could happen, since the Yankees’ Didi Gregorious suffered a serious shoulder injury in the World Baseball Classic.
Gregorious will be out through April, so it’s not as if the Yanks need a long-term replacement. Not that Galvis is one, but I can’t see New York needing to fill that hole so seriously that they want Galvis. Heck, they have Starlin Castro if they really need an experienced body.
If by some crazy chance Galvis is traded (I don’t think he would be), Andres Blanco would probably get the lion’s share of starts at short until J.P. Crawford is ready.
BATTING CROWN?: Matt Breen reports that Odubel Herrera says he knows he can win a batting title.
Then go get it, Torito.
Herrera has just been scratched from Wednesday’s game because of dehydration.
TODAY’S GAME: And today the Phils host the Yankees. (See how it all comes together?)
The lineup: Hernandez/Kendrick/Nava (1B)/Franco/Saunders/Altherr/Hanigan/Florimon (no Galvis, ha!)/Velasquez (no DH).
