News: Halladay starts as Phillies spring instructor Tuesday

It’s official: Roy Halladay is joining the Phillies as a spring training instructor.

“Doc” will be with the team Tuesday, but no report as to for how long he’ll hang out in Clearwater. Either way, just the fact that Halladay is around the young pitchers is great news.

CRAWFORD MENTORING MONIAK: Meghan Montemurro reports that J.P. Crawford is mentoring Mickey Moniak. “I’m just looking out for him, like a little brother,” said Crawford of the 18-year-old first-overall draft pick.

Apparently the two have already spent time together at the batting cages, they play video games together and they went on a fishing trip together.

Only good news there. The fact that Crawford is taking a leadership position like this is pretty impressive.
