Daniel Nava to DL, so guess who’s back on the squad?

Daniel Nava was placed on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to May 21. He has a hamstring strain.

That means our old buddy Adam Morgan is back in Philadelphia, recalled from Lehigh Valley. He’s an extra bullpen arm because, as you’ve seen, the bullpen needs arms these days.

Meanwhile, IronPigs second baseman Jesmuel Valentin has a dislocated left shoulder and is likely to miss the rest of the season, a big blow for the 23-year-old prospect.

Valentin will likely be placed on the 60-day disabled list, which means a 40-man roster spot would open up. That could mean another arm or, maybe, Scott Kingery, who could be promoted to Lehigh Valley from Reading (he’s arguably the Eastern League’s best hitter thus far in 2017).

It’s more likely Kingery continues to develop in double-A, but the chances of him moving up this year have definitely increased.
