While the Phillies continue to lose (3-11 in May following a 9-3 loss Wednesday to Texas), the Lehigh Valley IronPigs continue to win. The Pigs took their 12th straight Wednesday after beating Rochester 11-8.
Down 4-1 early, the Pigs climbed back to tie it in the third on a J.P. Crawford RBI single and a couple RBI outs. But Rochester went back up 8-4, as starter Ricardo Pinto got roughed up (eight runs off nine hits in three innings).
Still the Pigs kept coming back, with Nick Williams, Roman Quinn and Rhys Hoskins homering to tie it at 8-8 by the eighth. Crawford’s third RBI single of the game (3-for-5, 4 RBI, R) gave the Pigs the lead in the 11th, and stellar pitching by Pat Venditte and Pedro Beato locked it down.
The IronPigs – now 26-13 with a four-game lead in the International League’s North Division – will try for 13 straight in the series finale Thursday against Rochester. First pitch is 1:35 p.m.
