With Nola coming, Nick Pivetta down, Adam Morgan up

With Aaron Nola on his way to the Phillies, the team sent pitcher Nick Pivetta back down to Lehigh Valley.

But the team wanted a live arm for the weekend series against Pittsburgh, so the team has recalled Adam Morgan to the majors.

Morgan has a 6.08 ERA with eight strikeouts and five walks over 13.1 innings for the IronPigs.

Why Morgan, you ask? Because, as I wrote just one week ago, the Phils really don’t have any other choice (unless they remove Morgan from the 40-man, which, I mean, why not?).

Anyway, Morgan is here. And unless the Phils are down by a dozen runs before the fourth inning of one of these games (can’t count that out), he’d better not reach the mound in Pittsburgh. Looking at you, Pete Mackanin.

Tim first found the Phillies as a little infant at Veteran’s Stadium, cheering on a Juan Samuel game-winning home run in his very first game. With the pinstripes in his blood, he witnessed Terry Mulholland’s 1990 no-hitter, “Steve Carlton Night” at the Vet, game three of the 1993 World Series, countless games during the charmed 2008 championship season and various road excursions. Since November 2007 Tim’s been writing about them daily at Phillies Nation, becoming one of the world’s most popular Phillies scribes. You can catch him on Twitter and Facebook, as well. When he’s not talking about the Phils he’s relaxing with a St. Bernardus ABT 12 or one of his many favored brews.
