Phillies avoid embarrassment in 11-7 loss to Mets

Along with the rest of the working world on this beautiful Labor Day, the Phillies took the day off, too, with the exception for one inning. Mark Leiter, who took the ball for the Phils, was beat down early and often. Leiter allowed two home runs in third to Jose Reyes and Asdrubal Cabrera to make the score 4-0. Four Mets players tallied multi-hit games, the best of which came from Brandon Nimmo, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Leiter hit the showers early, going just 3.1 innings, while surrendering eight runs on nine hits. It was a 10-0 game in the fourth

The one inning the Phillies decided to show up was the sixth, when they put up a four spot thanks to a Hyun Soo Kim two-RBI double. Odubel Herrera, who was activated from the DL today, extended his hitting streak to 18 games with a nine-pitch RBI single to right as a pinch-hitter.
