Back in late October, Phillies Nation hosted its first ever book club event featuring Macho Row: The 1993 Phillies and Baseball’s Unwritten Code by William Kashatus. Thanks to all of our supporters and dedicated readers, the event was a success! Today we are announcing the second book:
Crash: The Life and Times of Dick Allen – the autobiography of former Phillies first basemen Richard Anthony Allen
We encourage everybody to read the book and join us for another in-person panel discussion at Holy Family University in Northeast Philadelphia. The date for the event is not yet confirmed, but it will be towards the end of January – with the intention of coinciding with the announcement of Hall of Fame ballot results on January 24. As you may know, the campaign promoting Dick Allen’s election into Cooperstown has been fiercely fought for the past several years. This will be one of the many topics covered by our panelists, including:
- Brian Michael – Phillies Nation CEO and the Sports Marketing-Management Coordinator at Holy Family University.
- Mitchell Nathanson – Professor of Sports Law at Villanova University and author of a book on Dick Allen
- Frank Fitzpatrick – Editor and Writer for the Philadelphia Inquirer since 1980.
For more information please keep an eye on future Phillies Nation book club articles and posts on Facebook. We look forward to seeing everybody at the event!
