Reports: Phillies sign Pat Neshek to two-year deal

UPDATE 3: Okay, here are the terms:

The deal is worth at least $16.25 million over two years. Neshek gets a $4 million signing bonus, plus $5.75 million in 2018 and $5.75 million in 2019. The club option in 2020 is for $7 million, but if the team buys out the contract, its on the hook for $750,000.

So the AAV is $5.75 million, which is pretty good.

UPDATE 2: Apparently there’s a difference in reporting. Ken Rosenthal says it’s $16.5 million and includes a $500,000 assignment bonus if he’s traded, which is something I’ve never before seen.

We’ll shake this out soon enough.

UPDATE: Jim Salisbury reports more details. It’s reportedly two years, with a third-year club option, at $16.25 million. Not sure if the $16.25 million includes the option year, or includes a buyout on the option year, or isn’t including the option year altogether.

The Phillies and Pat Neshek have agreed to a two-year contract, according to sources.

Jon Heyman reports Neshek is coming back for $16-$17 million, while  Matt Gelb reports the deal is over two years.

The 37-year-old righty had a career year with the Phils and Rockies last year, putting up a 1.59 ERA with a remarkable 69 strikeouts and six walks in 62.1 innings. Neshek had previously said he enjoyed playing with the Phillies.
