Rumors: Phillies looking into Archer, Duffy, Stroman

The Phillies have wanted a young, controllable starter for some time, and have talked about using the trade market to find that value. Now reports indicate that the Phils are, in fact, scouring the market for a trade partner.

According to numerous reports, chronicled by MLB Trade Rumors, the Phils are interested in Marcus Stroman, Danny Duffy and Chris Archer as potential acquisitions.

Either one of these three would signify an upgrade from most of the rotation pieces from 2017. But each would also cost a significant amount of prospects – especially Stroman.

We ran through the top starting pitching trade targets in our Offseason Overview series. Of the group, we left out Stroman because we felt he wouldn’t be on the market (and it looks as if the Blue Jays are steadfast on holding onto him), but we listed Archer and Duffy as our No. 1 and No. 2 targets, respectively.
