Phillies sign Adam Rosales to minor league contract

The Phillies added another player to their spring training tryout corps on Wednesday, announcing they’ve signed infielder Adam Rosales to a minor league contract with an invitation to Clearwater. He’ll earn $1.75 million if he in fact makes the team.

Rosales, who can play every infield position and can even stick in the outfield, hit .225/.260/.353 last year between Oakland and Arizona. In 2016 he hit .229/.319/.495 in a career year for San Diego.

The 34-year-old Rosales will likely compete for a utility spot in spring training, a la Chris Coghlan in 2017.
