Hey, another snow storm! Yippee … here’s the news:
MORE CUTS: Danny Ortiz has been reassigned to minor league camp. On Tuesday, Logan Moore, Andrew Pullin and Mitch Walding went to minor league camp.
That leaves 43 players.
(cue ominous music)
QUICK WIN: The Phillies meanwhile beat the Blue Jays 2-0 in a rain-shortened six-inning win. Ben Lively (5 IP, 4 K, 3 H) was his best self. The offense came from Pedro Florimon and Colin Cowgill, with Scott Kingery (of course) and Jorge Alfaro adding hits.
ICYMI: Tommy Joseph was claimed off waivers by the Rangers. If only they would’ve traded for him last year …
Meanwhile, hopefully Joseph gets an opportunity to succeed out there.
LEITER ON DL: Mark Leiter Jr. will, in fact, start the season on the disabled list. He should be out until late April or early May with a mild flexor strain.
TODAY’S GAME: The Phillies head to Dunedin today for a back-to-backer with the Blue Jays. Today’s lineup:
- Hernandez – 2B
- Hoskins – LF
- Franco – 3B
- Santana – 1B
- Altherr – CF
- Williams – RF
- Rupp – C
- Flaherty – SS
- Quinn – DH
Nick Pivetta is on the bump. Interesting to see Franco at the three hole and Santana batting cleanup. Game is at 1 p.m.
