After losing two of three to the Diamondbacks, the Phillies will hope to right the ship against the freaking team we’ve been playing every other day, basically: the Braves.
Hey, at least we don’t have to hear that terrible, no good chop.
And at least it won’t be on Facebook.
Gametime: 7:05 p.m.
The lineup:
- Hernandez – 2B
- Santana – 1B
- Herrera – CF
- Hoskins – LF
- Altherr – RF
- Kingery – 3B
- Crawford – SS
- Alfaro – C
- Nola – P
Pitchers: Aaron Nola (2-1, 2.30 ERA) vs. Julio Teheran (1-1, 4.00 ERA)
For the third time in these first 24 games, Nola will face off with Teheran. I wonder if that’s a record …
Meanwhile the Phils will get their first taste of Braves’ super-prospect Ronald Acuna (.444/.444/.889, HR, 2B). People are going to watch him play and be more upset that J.P. Crawford isn’t that good. It’s bound to happen.
Your Gameday Beer: I really enjoyed Stone’s Xocoveza, a chocolate-first stout designed to be a play off Mexican hot chocolate, with pepper and cinnamon (especially on the nose). It’s quite robust, dark and mysterious. Also boozy. Everything I love in dark beers!
Go Phillies!
Tim MalcolmTim first found the Phillies as a little infant at Veteran’s Stadium, cheering on a Juan Samuel game-winning home run in his very first game. With the pinstripes in his blood, he witnessed Terry Mulholland’s 1990 no-hitter, “Steve Carlton Night” at the Vet, game three of the 1993 World Series, countless games during the charmed 2008 championship season and various road excursions. Since November 2007 Tim’s been writing about them daily at Phillies Nation, becoming one of the world’s most popular Phillies scribes. You can catch him on Twitter and Facebook, as well. When he’s not talking about the Phils he’s relaxing with a St. Bernardus ABT 12 or one of his many favored brews.
