The Phillies now eye a three-game sweep of the Rays, their sixth-straight win, and a chance to be four games over .500. They’ll turn to Ben Lively, whose last outing (5.2 IP, 5 ER, 9 H, 7 K, 2 BB) was probably a few batters too long.
The Rays are having a bullpen day, starting with Ryan Yarbrough, who has appeared in three games and finished one.
Gametime: 1:10 p.m.
The lineup:
- Hernandez – DH
- Santana – 1B
- Herrera – CF
- Hoskins – LF
- Kingery – 2B
- Franco – 3B
- Altherr – RF
- Knapp – C
- Florimon – SS
Pitchers: Ben Lively (0-1, 5.56 ERA) vs. the Rays Bullpen
Yarbrough is a lefty, so I suppose that’s one reason why J.P. Crawford and Nick Williams are on the bench today. But I’m not a big fan of Crawford taking a seat, as he’s been hot, and Yarbrough is probably not pitching too many innings. Maybe Pedro Florimon surprises us today … we’ll see.
Your Gameday Beer: Big fan of Indian Brown Ale from Dogfish Head. An OG that still nails it. You get the nuttiness of a brown mixed with a hoppy profile that feels throwback and easily sippable. Enjoy on this gray Sunday.
Go Phillies!
Tim MalcolmTim first found the Phillies as a little infant at Veteran’s Stadium, cheering on a Juan Samuel game-winning home run in his very first game. With the pinstripes in his blood, he witnessed Terry Mulholland’s 1990 no-hitter, “Steve Carlton Night” at the Vet, game three of the 1993 World Series, countless games during the charmed 2008 championship season and various road excursions. Since November 2007 Tim’s been writing about them daily at Phillies Nation, becoming one of the world’s most popular Phillies scribes. You can catch him on Twitter and Facebook, as well. When he’s not talking about the Phils he’s relaxing with a St. Bernardus ABT 12 or one of his many favored brews.
