It’s the first Throwback Thursday at Citizens Bank Park, as the Phillies wear their powder-blue throwbacks. In honor of this occasion … wait, what is this? Is this a computer of some sort? But what is this screen I’m typing on? What are all these words on the side and up top? Can anyone explain this to me?
Gametime: 7:05 p.m.
The lineup:
- Hernandez – 2B
- Santana – 1B
- Herrera – CF
- Hoskins – LF
- Williams – RF
- Kingery – 3B
- Crawford – SS
- Alfaro – C
- Arrieta – P
Pitchers: Jake Arrieta (1-0, 3.38 ERA) vs. Jameson Taillon (2-0, 0.89 ERA)
Kingery is in for Franco, while Williams starts in right and … well … this is pretty basic tonight.
By the way, look at those numbers for Jameson Taillon. He’s good. He went 5.1 innings in his first start, then tossed a complete game shutout over Cincinnati before going six against Miami. Okay, he’s basically been the Phillies. Actually the 12-6 Pirates are the Phillies. They’ve beaten up on the Tigers, Marlins and Reds, plus the scuffling Cubs, to get here.
With that said, four-game sweep by the Pirates incoming!
Your Gameday Beer: I could go for the very obvious and dumb play on words and recommend one of those Jameson Caskmates partners, so you know what, I will. I’m not a big fan of gimmicks like this, but I was given a special tasting of this once by my friends at Captain Lawrence Brewing, and damnit, it was *falls onto the floor*. Here is my local brewery – Captain Lawrence – with Palate Shifter, an imperial IPA. Boozy. You’ll probably need it tonight.
Go Phillies!
Tim MalcolmTim first found the Phillies as a little infant at Veteran’s Stadium, cheering on a Juan Samuel game-winning home run in his very first game. With the pinstripes in his blood, he witnessed Terry Mulholland’s 1990 no-hitter, “Steve Carlton Night” at the Vet, game three of the 1993 World Series, countless games during the charmed 2008 championship season and various road excursions. Since November 2007 Tim’s been writing about them daily at Phillies Nation, becoming one of the world’s most popular Phillies scribes. You can catch him on Twitter and Facebook, as well. When he’s not talking about the Phils he’s relaxing with a St. Bernardus ABT 12 or one of his many favored brews.
