Tuesday was fun. Yes the Phillies were threatening to give Homer Bailey his third (seriously) career no-hitter, but then the bats got going. We had key hits, a historic moment, and downright awesome pitching from the awesome ace.
Now the Phillies have an opportunity to both sweep the Reds and climb over .500. Let’s. Do. It.
Gametime: 7:05 p.m.
The lineup:
- Hernandez – 2B
- Kingery – LF
- Herrera – CF
- Santana – 1B
- Franco – 3B
- Williams – RF
- Alfaro – C
- Pivetta – P
- Crawford – SS
Pitchers: Nick Pivetta (1-0, 2.79 ERA) vs. Luis Castillo (0-2, 9.00 ERA)
Not much of a diff- WHOA. WHERE THE F- IS RHYS HOSKINS?
Just kidding. After going 0-for-3 last night with three strikeouts, Hoskins will get a well-timed day off against a righty. Tomorrow is an off day, which means Hoskins gets two days of rest before the Phillies play 19 games in 20 days. This is good.
It also means another start for Scott Kingery without sacrificing Maikel Franco, J.P. Crawford (who needs to play after last night’s big hit) and Cesar Hernandez (who should get a day off soon, so keep an eye on that).
NOTE: The game is on PHL17 tonight. Which is something we haven’t said in quite a while. Enjoy The Great Entertainer.
Your Gameday Beer: In honor of the PHL17 broadcast, we’re going throwback tonight with Schaefer. You could also grab a Schlitz, or even a PBR. It’s all just swill, but hey, you can have three or four before the first pitching change!
Go Phillies!
