Huge game. HUGE GAME.
The Phillies are looking to take two of three from the first-place Braves. They certainly don’t want to let Atlanta grab a 2.5-game lead in the division. A win is necessary tonight.
So it’s good that the Phils have Jake Arrieta on the hill, who hasn’t yet faced the Braves. Conversely, Atlanta brings Luiz Gohara to the hill, who the Phils haven’t seen.
Gametime: 7:05 p.m.
The lineup:
- Hernandez – 2B
- Hoskins – LF
- Herrera – CF
- Altherr – RF
- Santana – 1B
- Franco – 3B
- Alfaro – C
- Kingery – SS
- Arrieta – P
Pitchers: Jake Arrieta (3-2, 2.82 ERA) vs. Luiz Gohara (0-0, 1.29 ERA)
I hope Rhys Hoskins hits two home runs tonight to shut up all the haters.
Your Gameday Beer: Big game means Big Game Beer. We’re doing Three Philosophers tonight, one of my all-time favorites. Big alcohol, big candi sugar, big raisin notes, big beauty.
Go Phillies!
Tim MalcolmTim first found the Phillies as a little infant at Veteran’s Stadium, cheering on a Juan Samuel game-winning home run in his very first game. With the pinstripes in his blood, he witnessed Terry Mulholland’s 1990 no-hitter, “Steve Carlton Night” at the Vet, game three of the 1993 World Series, countless games during the charmed 2008 championship season and various road excursions. Since November 2007 Tim’s been writing about them daily at Phillies Nation, becoming one of the world’s most popular Phillies scribes. You can catch him on Twitter and Facebook, as well. When he’s not talking about the Phils he’s relaxing with a St. Bernardus ABT 12 or one of his many favored brews.
