Last night the Phillies broke out a bit, slamming four home runs (including two from Odubel Herrera) in an 11-0 win over the Giants. Zach Eflin (6.2 IP, 0 ER, 4 H, 9 K, 3 BB) pitched quite well, while Seranthony Dominguez was impressive in his debut.
Today is #NolaDay. It’s also a Dollar Dog Night. The Phils go for two against San Francisco.
Gametime: 7:05 p.m.
The lineup:
- Hernandez – 2B
- Hoskins – LF
- Herrera – CF
- Altherr – RF
- Santana – 1B
- Franco – 3B
- Kingery – SS
- Alfaro – C
- Nola – P
Pitchers: Aaron Nola (4-1, 2.17 ERA) vs. Derek Holland (1-3, 5.70 ERA)
Nola is coming off one of his career-best starts, in which he allowed just four hits and a walk over 7.1 innings against Miami. His 2.1 rWAR is currently tops in the National League.
Your Gameday Beer: There is a brewery called NOLA; of course, it’s the New Orleans Lager & Ale Brewing Company. They might have the best beer, pound-for-pound, in New Orleans, a city still trying to build its brewing identity. Try their Rebirth Pale Ale, a decent American pale.
Go Phillies!
Tim MalcolmTim first found the Phillies as a little infant at Veteran’s Stadium, cheering on a Juan Samuel game-winning home run in his very first game. With the pinstripes in his blood, he witnessed Terry Mulholland’s 1990 no-hitter, “Steve Carlton Night” at the Vet, game three of the 1993 World Series, countless games during the charmed 2008 championship season and various road excursions. Since November 2007 Tim’s been writing about them daily at Phillies Nation, becoming one of the world’s most popular Phillies scribes. You can catch him on Twitter and Facebook, as well. When he’s not talking about the Phils he’s relaxing with a St. Bernardus ABT 12 or one of his many favored brews.
