The Philadelphia Phillies, for the first time in over half a decade, are a hot topic not only locally, but nationally.
Thursday, Bryce Harper made his long-awaited free-agent decision, reportedly agreeing to a 13-year/$330 million contract. Friday, the deal became official and he hopped on managing partner John Middleton’s private jet to fly to Clearwater, Florida, the Spring Training home of the Phillies. Saturday, atop the first base dugout at Spectrum Field, the Phillies introduced Harper, who will don No. 3 in red pinstripes. And Sunday, most important of all, Phillies Nation Editorial Director Tim Kelly joined In My Opinion with Denton Day on SB Nation Radio to break it all down.
During the interview, Kelly discussed the length of Harper’s contract, the best moments from his introductory press conference, the Phillies chances to compete in the National League and how realistic it is to think Mike Trout could join Harper in the outfield at Citizens Bank Park in the near future.
