Larry Shenk’s Phillies Minor League Report: 4/25/19

“The Baron” is the former Philadelphia Phillies head of community relations, a role in which he served the organization for more than four decades. Larry is also a 2018 inductee to the Delaware Sports Museum and Hall of Fame.

Lehigh Valley, International League North Division
**IronPigs (14–4) won third in a row, 3–1, in Pawtucket vs. the Red Sox . . . WP: Col Irvin (2–0), 6–3–0–0–2–7, lowered ERA to 1.14; has allowed three earned runs in four starts; 16–4 in 29 AAA starts. SV: Yacksel Rios (1) . . . RF Dylan Cozens, 2–3, two walks, two runs, second triple. RBI: 1B Andrew Romine, C Deivy Grullon . . . Series ends 12:05 this afternoon . . . IronPigs have a three-game lead over the Syracuse Mets.

Reading, Eastern League East Division
**Fightin Phils (9–7) used a five-run seventh inning in sweeping a three-game series from the Flying Squirrels in Richmond, 7–2 . . . Five Reading hurlers held Richmond to two unearned runs on four singles. ND: Bailey Falter, 4–4–2–0–3–4. WP: Aaron Brown (1–2). Brown (two innings), Jeff Singer (two innings) and Jakob Hernandez (one) no-hit the Flying Squirrels . . . 5-foot-5 Grenny Cumana, playing RF, was the big man in Reading’s offense, 2–3, run, walk, double, three RBI. PH Josh Stephen had a two-run double in the big seventh inning . . . Mauricio Llovera (0–0), 6:45 tonight vs. New Hampshire Fisher Cats.

Clearwater, Florida State League North Division
**Threshers (8–12) unleashed a 16-hit attack in taking the series (2–1) from the Florida Fire Frogs, 13–1, in a 12-noon game that attracted 1,404 to Spectrum Field. Three Clearwater pitches combined to limit Florida to four hits while striking out 10. Staff leads FSL in strikeouts (225) . . . ND: Damon Jones, 4.2–3–1–1–3–6, 91 pitches, 57 strikes. WP: Luis Ramirez (1–0) . . . 3B Dalton Guthrie, 3–4, two runs, double, home run (#1), three RBI. 1B Jake Scheiner, 3–5, run, fifth double, three RBI. 2B Jose Ortiz, 3–5, run, double, two RBI. CF Simone Muzziotti, 2–4, walk, two runs, triple, RBI. RF Jhailyn Ortiz, 2–5, run, double, RBI . . . 6:30 tonight in Tampa.

**BlueClaws (6–14) dropped series finale, 1–0, to Braves in Rome. Lakewood had more hits, nine singles, but left nine runners on base . . . ND: Kevin Gowdy, 5–2–0–0–2–3.
